PSRI members Robert Dansereau, Karl Zuzarte, and Dennis Goulet images receive honors.

PSRI member Robert Dansereau’s image of Sakonet Lighthouse was awarded Fourth Place in Yankee Magazine’s “My New England” 2013 photography contest. His winning image is published in the March/April copy of Yankee Magazine and on Yankee’s website here. The judges commented “ Love the solidity of the lighthouse surrounded by the softness of the water and sky around it. Love the simple graphic composition. Initially it was the composition and color that grabbed my attention, but then you notice the small details when you stop and look at the image: the one light on in the lighthouse; the small stairway that gives scale to the lighthouse and also makes you think about the actual task (the keepers it once had) of getting to the lighthouse.”

PSRI member and president Karl Zuzarte, MD, has had an image selected in the juried art exhibit at Newport Art Museum. His image – Twilight Newport – printed on metal – was accepted and is on display at the Newport Art museum until May 8th. It is usually very difficult for photographers to compete with other art; his photograph was one of 100 pieces of art selected for exhibition of a total of 300 entries.

Member and webmaster Dennis Goulet has had two images selected for the top 100 images in the Audubon Magazine’s 2013 Birds in Focus photography contest. Over 8,000 images were entered in the 5th annual contest and the competition is high, as can be seen by the images chosen as the Top 100. Dennis has had three other images in the top 100 in the first four contests, and was the Grand Prize winner in the 2010 Audubon Magazine Birds in Focus photography contest.

If you are a PSRI member and have been recognized for your photography in either a contest, a juried exhibition or have a gallery show, please let us know so that we can let the other members of PSRI know of your success.
Congratulations Bob, Karl and Dennis. It is nice to see honors outside of PSRI.
