The presentation for October 10 will be Understanding Exposure.
The relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity, and how they contribute to a properly exposed image will be discussed. We’ll see how this knowledge enables us to control equivalent exposure and take advantage of depth of field choices to expand our image capturing options. Understanding how a camera meter functions and the different metering modes, and use of an important feature on most cameras, exposure compensation, will be explained. We’ll also cover how to use the histogram, the experienced photographer’s favorite tool, to ensure proper exposure as well as white balance settings to make certain what you see on the computer screen is what you saw in the field. First presented at PSRI in 2010, the presentation was updated in 2017 and will benefit less experienced photographers, and serve as a refresher to those with more experience.
