One of the icons of photography, Walker Evans photographed America and American life. As indicated in the exhibit write up linked below “The photographs, particularly those of rural Southern sharecroppers, launched his career and remain among the most iconic images of American art.” His work is considered to be among the finest in photographic history and it will be coming to within a driving distance; well worth the trip. Here is the exhibit information and a detailed write up of its contents:

I eagerly look forward to viewing the Walker Evans exhibit.
I see his photos and it brings to mind that he, and others such as Dorothea Lange, Russell Lee, etc., would not have had the opportunity to do such magnificent, important work if it had not been for the “socialistic” federal government Farm Administration program. I hate to think of many vital federal programs of today being killed under the banner of reduced spending.
Worth visiting Walker Evans exhibit: extraordinary outing. Loved it.
I agree, I saw it a couple of weeks ago and liked it a lot. Although I have seen most of the photographs before, seeing them printed and enlarged is a different feeling. Well worth the trip.
