On the weekend of February 23 & 24, the Greater Lynn Photographic Association held its 37th Annual Greater Lynn International Color Exhibition. This is a world class photography competition that included 5,600 photographs from talented amateur photographers from not just New England, but all over the world!
I am very proud to say that you, PSRI, did fantastic! With 40 individuals entering, making PSRI the largest USA club to compete! Out of the 37 clubs from around the world that entered, PSRI came in 3rd place! That is a truly remarkable feat, and I could not be prouder of how the club did. Take a moment to think about that. Amazing job! To calculate this ranking, the total score of each club participant was totaled. The top 7 individual totals from each competing club are then used to calculate a score for the club.
In addition to competing as a club, individual images go head to head for a variety of Medals and Awards. This year they awarded:
- 38 medals
- 100 GLPA Honor Awards
- 3 PSA Honor Awards
- 6 FIAP Honor Awards.
Once again, PSRI is very proud of its members! I am very pleased to announce that one of the 38 Medals was awarded to PSRI’s very own Ehsun Mirza! His image titled “ME TOO” was awarded the medal for Best Humor. Eshun’s image is image number 29 of 47 at the following link:

Congratulations Ehsun for a wonderful image, and for your medal.
In addition to Eshun, PSRI had several other photographers who received recognition for an image:
- FIAP Honor Award – Marion Faria (image 45 of 47 at the above link)
- 2 Honor Awards – Louise Haley (image 44 of 47 at the above link)
- 2 Honor Awards – Karl Zuaret
- Honor Award – Jerry Klevas
The FIAP Award is from the International Federation of Photographic Arts. Honor Awards are images that scored highly (13, 14 or 15) that were considered for different medals but were not picked for any medals
In order for an image to be “accepted” into the Exhibition it must have received a score of 12 or higher. Out of the 160 images that PSRI submitted, 52 were accepted!. Do not be discouraged by your individual scores, as this is a difficult exhibition. Here is how PSRI stacked up:
- 4 images accepted – none
- 3 images accepted – 4 PSRI members
- 2 images accepted – 13 PSRI members
- 1 image accepted – 14 PSRI members
- 0 images accepted – 9 PSRI members
Again, please do NOT be discouraged if your images were not accepted. The large number of entrants from around the world makes the Greater Lynn Exhibition an difficult competition.
Medal winner images can be seen at: https://www.greaterlynnphoto.org/intl_archives/2013%20revd/index.html
The ACCEPTED images from the competition will all be presented in a spectacular show at the Greater Lynn Photographic Association facility, located at 564 Boston St. Lynn, Ma. The show will be Sunday afternoon April 7, 2013 at 2 PM and Monday night April 8 at 7:30 PM. Admission cost is an $8 donation per person.
