New England Flora and Fauna
PSRI members are invited to enter images for consideration as we prepare for an exhibition of “New England Flora and Fauna” to be held July-August 2025 at the Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium located in Bristol, RI.
Guidelines
Up to (5) photographs are allowed per member. There is no entry fee. Photographs must be of
Flora or Fauna and must be taken in New England. This is not a nature competition and does not
follow PSA/NECCC Nature Rules. No Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated images allowed.
Flora: Plants of a particular region or habitat including fungi. Does not include cultivated flowers.
Does not include landscapes. Note: An insect or bird on a cultivated flower is acceptable as long
as the insect or bird is the dominant subject.
Fauna: All animals in an ecosystem, including insects, aquatic species, and other animals. Does
not include domestic animals e.g. dogs, cats, cows, sheep, horses, etc. May include hand of man.
A digital copy (in jpeg, formatted 1400 x 1050 and not to exceed 800 kb) of each of your printed
photographs must be submitted on the online entry form to be considered for acceptance into
the exhibition. Enter your name, title, size (including the mat only) and price. If the artwork is
16” x 20” then choose the option with the applicable orientation, portrait or landscape.
The Audubon Society of RI will take a 30% commission. All art must be for sale. “Not for Sale” or
“Price on Request” are not allowed. Sold images will continue to be displayed for the remainder
of the exhibition and will be marked with a red dot. If a buyer relocates after the purchase of an
item, then the buyer will be responsible for the shipping costs.
Submitted artwork does not guarantee acceptance and will be selected by the Exhibition Staff –
Deb Page, Karen Johnson-Niewendyk, Marjorie Lamphear, and Tara Marshall.
Requirements
Photographs to be printed on paper, matted with a white beveled mat only, and framed with a 0.5
-inch to 1.5-inch black wooden or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) frame. A single white mat is
preferable; however, double white mats are allowed. Ideally the glass should be non-glare, and of
museum quality, if able. Plexiglass is acceptable but it reduces value of the finished piece so
configure it into the purchase price.
Finished work (not including the frame) can be any of the following dimensions:
16” x 20” or 16” x 16”. (Links to frames with or without mats at Michaels can be found at the end
of this document). Note: 16” x 20” white mats cut out for a 10” x 15” photo are still available to
be purchased. Email Tara Marshall at arat1031@aol.com if interested.
Finished work should include hardware necessary for installation in the Nature Center’s gallery
space. This includes any of the following: D-rings or Eye hooks screwed into the upper right- and
left-hand corners of the back part of the frame or wired with picture hanging wire. No saw-tooth
hangers of any kind are permitted.
Submissions
All finished work must be identified on the back of each piece with the maker’s name, title, and
price PRIOR TO drop-off to the gallery.
The exhibition staff will not be responsible for cleaning or touching up your artwork. Your mat(s)
must be clean, your glass undamaged and if your frame is dented, scratched, or otherwise
damaged, it is unsellable and will not be accepted into the exhibit. PSRI is not liable for lost or
damaged work.
Signing the mat or including a signature watermark on your printed photo is allowed.
