The entry period for the Audubon Magazine Photography Awards opens on 6 January and closes on 19 February 2016. This is the 7th year of this competition focused on bird photography and was originally titled the Birds In Focus competition. The entry requirements have changed over the years, as well as the prize structure. In 2010, the second year of the competition, my image of the Green Breasted Mango was selected as the Grand Prize winner, and another entry was selected in the top 100 images. I’ve had additional images in the top 100 in 2009 and 2013. Looking at the Top 100 images from 2010 I’m always amazed that my image was selected for the top award.
There are four divisions in which to enter: Professional, Amateur, Fine Art, and Youth. The entry fee is $15 per image so send in only your best. The full set of rules and other information about the contest can be found here:Â 2016 RULES.
