Competition

PSRI holds competitions in all categories five times a year. It is one of the most popular events as we get a chance to see great photographs in different formats. In order for the competitions to run smoothly, the entries are logged in at predetermined dates, typically two weeks prior to each competition. On the log in nights, there are usually other activities going on, so it can get quite busy. It is imperative that all the entries are submitted on the designated evenings so that they are all ready for judging on the day of the competition.

You can help make this a smoothly running process by filling in the forms correctly and legibly. Please avoid using red ink when filling in the competition forms. They are read under a red light while the images are projected on the screen, and red light on red lettering renders them, well white!! Better yet, try using the PDF forms available online. They make this process much easier. They are designed to create two identical labels for each entry by filling in one form. You need one label affixed in the middle (in the correct orientation of the photograph) of the back of the print, and the other tucked in the matte for the loggers to use. They are also much easier to read during the competition.

Please check the calendar for the actual dates of the competitions and their respective logging nights. The print and slide chairs do a fantastic job under pressure. Let’s give them a break and submit the images on time, with properly filled forms. For more information, contact competition chairs.
