Merrimack Valley Camera Club’s (MVCC) thirty-sixth (36th) George W. Glennie Memorial Nature Salon was conducted on March 12, 2016, at the Greater Lynn Photographic Association’s club house. The judges for this year’s salon were Art Vaughan, Ed McGuirk and Shawn Carey. The judges had an abundance of quality nature images from which to select their award winners. To earn any award at the Glennie is an accomplishment worthy of recognition. There is much strong competition and many very fine images go home empty handed. This year there were 810 images submitted by 81 clubs from the United States and 6 other countries.
The major awards went to:
- Top Club: Richmond Hill Camera Club
- Diversity Award: Tie between St. Catharines Photographic Club and Richmond Hill Camera Club
- Best of Show: “Cheetahs Hunting Impala“ by Jeffery Wu of the Toronto Camera Club of Ontario, Canada
- Best Wildlife: “Motherly Love” by Phil Muller of the Maritzburg Camera Club of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa
The Photographic Society of Rhode Island tied for 37th place. PSRI came in 13th in the Diversity aspect of the competition. Congratulations to two PSRI members for their winning images!!
