Description Lighting on a Shoestring Budget by Shiv Verma, MNEC
This program focuses on setting up a small home studio, and will cover setups for portrait photography, product photography and macro photography. You will learn how to make and use backgrounds, softboxes, diffusers and reflectors, and to create phenomenal lighting effects with on and off camera hot-shoe flashes, workman’s lamps and a number of do-it-yourself designs. We will use the simple setups to demonstrate the power of small lights and inexpensive lighting accessories. You can visit Shiv Verma’s website at: http://www.shivverma.com/

Workshop News:
WINTER PHOTOGRAPHY WITH JOE LEFEVRE – Joe, who is well known to our club
has agreed to lead a winter hopefully snowy workshop in the Oswego, NY area
(precise location to be announced) February 7, 8 & 9, 2014. We would be
traveling on February 6, with an orientation by Joe that evening, shooting
and critiquing Friday and Saturday, and wrapping up Sunday morning. More
precise details to follow regarding fee and accommodations.
CAPE COD WORKSHOP IN MAY – Shiv Verma, who is also well known to our club
has agreed to lead another workshop during the week of May 14 through May
18, 2014. Our previous workshop on the Cape was fairly damp and overcast,
until Sunday when we departed. My hope is for a little better weather.
Similar format as above, except we would have our orientation on Wednesday
evening, May 14, shoot and critique May 15, 16, 17 and wrap up Sunday
morning. However, the fee would be the same as last time ($275.00) and the
motel would be the same as well, namely: the Four Points Sheraton Eastham
Hotel, 3800 Route 6, Eastham, MA 02642. Again, more precise details to
follow shortly.
Feel free to contact Ted Lawson (treasurer) either at treasurer at psri {dot} us or

Here is an interesting Blog telling about the dangers of entering some on-line photo contests that take the rights to not only the winning images, but also all the images entered.
