It is with great sadness I remind you of the death of Shing Tak Doo, Mary Doo’s husband, a kind and gentle man, a good man, a talented man. He will surely be missed. I send condolences to Mary, Jen and their family as well as to the entire PSRI community. Arrangement details are available in Providence Journal.
On this occasion, I would like to share with you the words of a Turkish poet, Cemal Sureyya, which seems very fitting to Shing and his untimely death.
I’m dying O Lord
That’s happening too
I know, all deaths are
Early deaths
But, this life
You have just taken
Has been a good one
Keep the change
We had dinner together not long ago yet he’s already gone…
I remember his love of music and love of travel. I remember how delightful he was when he talked about his daughter.
No words can express my sorrow.
This is a huge loss for everybody who was fortunate to know Shing. He had an impeccable taste in all things artistic. It was always a great pleasure to speak with him, no matter the topic. His knowledge of opera was incomparable.
People like him make our world more beautiful.
Shing Tak has been my best friend for more than 54 years. We were in the same class throughout our six-year term in St.Marks School in Hong Kong.He has always been a kind and understanding friend. When I was down and lost, I would never hesitate to share my grief and seek his advice and comfort. He is a jolly good fellow and a faithful Christian. I am sure he rest in peace in Heaven though I am still sad and miss my good old friend.
Mary and Jennifer, please accept our condolences and take good care of yourselves, and this is also the wish of Shing Tak.
Mary,
We are sadden at the loss of your husband and friend. Although I only knew Shing for a short time, I enjoyed getting together with both of you at PSRI socials. His genteel manner and kind smile made it easy to enjoy his company. Kathy and I express our deepest regrets. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your families.
Mary,
All of PSRI has lost a wonderful friend with Shing’s passing. He will be missed. Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.
